A350 Keel Beam “Clips” and “Frames” Assembly Cell – AIRBUS (FRANCE)

Solution Overview

This solution consists of two TRICEPT machines for drilling the “clips” onto the panel and two robotic machines for drilling the “frames” that will support the floor. These solutions are integrated into an assembly line.

Project Objective

The objective of the project is to locate the “clips” previously installed and bonded with sealant, then drill them for subsequent riveting. Additionally, the project aims to locate the support faces on the “frames” for drilling holes where the floating nuts will be installed.

Challenge

The challenge is to use artificial vision for locating the edges of the parts and drill within a tolerance of ±0.127 mm between holes.

Requirements

  • The machine must have an auxiliary rotary axis to maintain the curved shape of the panel.
  • The machines perform verification of the installed parts before the final drilling process.
